The Alfred State Women's Soccer team won 1-0 against LaRoche in today's match.
After going into halftime 0-0 and getting outshot 9-3, the Pioneers turned it around in the second half. Giana DiMora (Greece, NY Greece Olympia) had a shutout day, facing nine shots on goal. Her nine-save day is her season-high, allowing the Pioneers to win on a late goal.
After being outshot in the first half, the Pioneers put together eight shots and six on goal, forcing the Redhawk defense to work harder than the first 45 minutes. Jena Schelble ( Boston, NY Springville) was the shot leader for Alfred State putting all four shots she took on goal. Schelble scored in the 62 minute, her fifth goal of the year. Her goal sealed the Pioneer victory.
The Alfred State team is back in action on October 25, at 5 p.m. at Pioneer Stadium. They will be celebrating their senior student-athletes.
