Pioneers Eliminated in Playoff Tournament

Alfred State Women's Soccer lost today to Mt. Aloysius 2-0. The Pioneers hosted an AMCC Conference Tournament match for the first time in program history. After starting conference play with three straight losses, the Pioneers turned their season around, winning four straight matches and earning a home playoff match.

The Alfred State team fought hard throughout today's match. Falyn Lewis-Ellison (Rexville, NY) stayed strong in the back line for the Pioneers, coming up with crucial defensive stops all afternoon. Scoreless through 70 minutes, Mt. Aloysius broke the tie on a corner kick goal. Jordan Mason assisted on Jasmine Hinton's seventh goal of the season for the Mounties. Riding that momentum, Jordan Mason knocked one in for Mt. Aloysius to make it 2-0 in the 78 minute.

Before that though, the Pioneers continued to fight off Mount's attacks, Giana DiMora (Greece, NY) came up with crucial saves, totaling 4 on the day. Defender, Victoria Stuck (Bolivar, NY) blocked a ball inches from going in for the Pioneers, keeping the game where it was.

Alfred State finished their season going 6-9-1 overall and 4-3 in conference play, finishing the regular season on a four-game winning streak.
