Pioneers Wrap up Big Weekend at Fredonia

The Alfred State swimming and diving team completed a big weekend at the three-day Fredonia Blue Devil Invitational. The women's team finished 4th with 523 points while the men were 5th with 417 points.

Jessie LaRue (Livonia) was 3rd in the 200 backstroke (2:14.60) which was nearly five seconds faster than her preliminary time to lead the way for the women's team.

Kathryn Lewis (Niagara Wheatfield) was 4th in the 1650 free (19:35.47) while Sarah Stevens (Wellsville) was 6th in the 200 breaststroke (2:51.28) and Hannah Snayczuk (Pioneer) was 7th (2:53.78). Kelsey Lynch (Wellsville) was 8th in the 200 fly (2:39.42). The women's 400 free relay team of LaRue, Elizabeth Drake (Lansing), Lewis, and Sarah Stevens finished 5th in 3:50.97

On the men's side, Ethan Dale (Lock Haven, PA) was 4th in the 200 breast (2:13.04), Tim Olin (Perry) was 6th in the 200 back (2:04.85), Austin Eckrich (Churchville Chili) was 7th in the 1650 free (18:15.36), and Anthony Kahwaty (Jefferson Township, NJ) was 8th in the 200 breast (2:24.88).

The men's 400 free relay team of Olin, Nathan Miller (Gananda), Eckrich, and Ryan Brophy (Midlakes) was 4th in 3:27.01.

The Pioneers will be back in action on January 4th when they compete in the CSCAA Orlando Meet.
