Pioneers Pick Up Another AMCC Win

The Alfred State women's swimming & diving team outmanned Pitt-Bradford as they improved to 4-0 in AMCC action with a 145-22 victory. 

Kathryn Lewis (Niagara Wheatfield) was a double individual event winner as she won the 200 IM (2:31.06) and the 100 breast (1:19.67). As a team the Pioneers won seven of the nine individual events.

Elizabeth Jurs (Elba) won the 1,000 free (13:36.63), Samantha Towner (Wayland Cohocton) won the 50 free (29.91), Jessie LaRue (Livonia) won the 100 fly (1:05.57), Sarah Stevens (Wellsville) won the 100 free (1:01.53), and Kelsey Lyncyh (Wellsville) won the 500 free (6:05.11).

The 200 medley relay team of Payton Armstrong (Highland Mills/Monroe Woodbury), Hannah Snayczuk (Pioneer), Alina Kisluk (Hamburg), and Elizabeth Furmanski (Albion) won in 2:09.05 while the 400 free relay team of Megan Hendershot (Brockport), Elizabeth Drake (Lansing), LaRue, and Lynch won in 4:15.97.

Grace Feely (Middletown) was 2nd in the 1,000 free (14:32.24), Furmanski was 2nd in the 200 free (2:17.22) and the 100 back (1:17.17), Hendershot was 2nd in the 50 free (29.93), Lynch was 2nd in the 200 IM (2:43.68), Snayczuk was 2nd in the 100 free (1:06.70), Jurs was 2nd in the 500 free (6:34.40), and Drake was 2nd in the 100 breast (1:28.69).

Alfred State is back in action next Saturday when they host the Pioneer Invitational. Swimming events start at 1 p.m. in the Orvis Pool with diving starting following the competion of swimming at approximately 4 p.m. at Alfred University.
