Women's Swimming & Diving receive numerous honors from AMCC

Honors Roll in for AMCC Champs

The 2020 Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) champion Alfred State women's swimming & diving team was well represented on the All-Conference teams released today.

Leaha Langerman (Wayland Cohocton) was named the AMCC Diver of the Year after taking the titles on both the 1m and 3m boards. On the 1m board she scored 274.25 while on the 3m board she accumulated 274.90 points.

Payton Armstrong (Highland Mills/Monroe Woodbury) and Mikaela Snayczuk (Machias/Pioneer) each earned 1st honors in two individual events. Armstrong won the 100 back in 1:05.82 and the 200 back in 2:22.11 while Snayczuk won the 100 fly in 1:02.72 and the 100 breast in 1:09.64. Armstrong and Snaycuzk were also part of the 1st team All-AMCC 400 medley relay team (4:18.57) and the 200 medley relay team (1:34.87). In the 400 medley relay they teamed with Sarah Stevens (Wellsville) and Alina Kisluk (Hamburg) while in the 200 medley they teamed with Stevens and Kelsey Lynch (Wellsville). Armstrong and Snayczuk also swam on the 800 free relay with Stevens and Kisluk that earned 2nd team All-AMCC with a finish of 8:33.45.

Sarah Stevens dove to 2nd team All-AMCC honors on both boards. She scored 271.30 on the 1m and 266.70 on the 3m. 

Kelsey Lynch also swam to 2nd team honors in the 200 fly with a finish of 2:37.54.

The Pioneers won the college's first AMCC title this past week by edging out Penn State Behrend by five points. First year head coach Mike Smiechowski was honored by his peers by being named the AMCC Coach of the Year.
