Pioneers Place Third In Oberlin Invite

 The Alfred State Women's Swim and Dive team is in second place after the first day of events at the Oberlin Invitational. They trail host Oberlin College 324.5 to 233. The Pioneers will look to gain ground in more events today.

Some highlights from yesterday include:

The Pioneers breaking the 200-freestyle relay record by swimming 1:40.36. Madison Snayczuk (Machias, NY / Pioneer), Mallory O'Keefe (Brighton, CO / Stargate Charter), Gabriela Leite (Little Rock, AR / Little Rock) and Anna Ivery (Machias, NY / Pioneer) were the swimmers in the record-breaking time.

A 500-freestyle record was broken by Mallory O'Keefe, swimming a 5:16.56.

The Women's 400 medley record was also broken. Anna Ivery, Mikaela Snayczuk (Machias, NY / Pioneer), Mallory O'Keefe, Madison Snayczuk broke the record swimming a time of 4:07.30

Day 2:

The Alfred State Women's Swimming and Dive team are in third place behind host Oberlin College and Brockport at the 2022 Oberlin Invitational, they are down 524 to 709.5 to first place Oberlin.

The Women's 200 medley record was broken again by Pioneer swimmers. Anna ivery, Mikaela Snayczuk, Mallory O'Keefe and Madison Snayczuk swam a 1:50.96.

Emma Merrick (Cleveland, OH / Normandy) had another record-breaking event. She broke the 400 individual medley record with a time of 4:58.62.

Mallory O'Keefe broke her own record in the 100 fly. She swam a time of 59.94

The Alfred State Women's 100 Backstroke record was also broken in Saturday's events. Anna Ivery swam a 1:01.58, breaking her own record.

Day 3:

After the third and final day at the Oberlin Invitational, the women's swim and dive team finished in third place. Behind host Oberlin College and SUNY Brockport, the Pioneer women scored 523 team points.

Alyssa James came in fifth place in the 200 back with a time of 2:15.9 earning 25 team points.

Anna Ivery was the best finisher in the 100 free for Alfred State. Ivery came in seventh place, with a time of 54.79.

Mallory O'Keefe continued to show her prowess, especially yesterday in the longest event of the weekend. In the 1650 free, O'Keefe finished in second place. She finished with a time of 18:22.61. O'Keefe's slowest lap was 34.35 and her fastest was her final lap at 32.74.

The Pioneers came in sixth in the 400 free relay. Mallory O'Keefe, Madison Snayczuk, Gabriela Leite and Anna Ivery were the foursome that raced in the event. They had a time of 3:44.08.

The Pioneers swim again on December 3, in a tri-meet with Wells and Pitt.- Bradford.
