Pioneer Drop Meet to Geneseo
The Alfred State Women's Swimming and Diving team lost todays meet against Geneseo. The Pioneers had their first head-to-head loss of the season, falling to a strong Geneseo team.
Anna Ivery (Syracuse, NY / West Genesee) won the 50-yard backstroke. Her time of 28.96 bested the second place Geneseo swimmer who finished with a time of 29.59. Ivery has been tough to beat all season and proved it again against a nationally ranked Geneseo team.
Mallory O'Keefe (Brighton, CO / Stargate Charter) came in second place of the 100-yard butterfly. She finished three seconds behind first place with a time of 1:02.24. O'Keefe has been a reliable point-scorer for the Pioneer team all season and she continued her production in today's meet. O'Keefe also came in second place in the 500-yard free. Falling by only three seconds with a time of 5:30.04.
The Pioneers won the 200-yard freestyle relay. Mallory O'Keefe, Gabriela Leite (Little Rock, AR / Little Rock Central) Alyssa James (Pittsford, NY / Pittsford-Mendon) and Anna Ivery teamed up and swam a time of 1:46.53.
The Pioneers are back in the pool on January 14, when they host Nazareth at home.
