Pioneers on Top of AMCC. Continue to Break Records

After day two of the AMCC the Pioneer Women's team remains in second place behind Empire 8 team Nazareth. With a total of 587 points, they are over 43 points ahead of the third place Penn.- St. Behrend Lions. 

After a morning of prelims, the finals of the 400 IM, 100 Butterfly, 200 IM, 200 free, 100 breast, 100 back and 400 medley all took place at the Webster Aquatic Center. The women's 3m dive finals also took place.

In the first event of the night, Emma Merrick (Cleveland, OH / Normandy) competed in the 400 IM and placed 6th with a time of 4:58.26, Merrick's time was good enough for a new Alfred State record. 

Mallory O'Keefe (Brighton, CO / Stargate ) competed in the 100 breast and finished in third place with a time of 1:01.11.

Madison Snayczuk (Machias, NY / Pioneer High School) competed in the 200 free and finished in 7th place. Snayczuk's time of 2:00.29 was good enough for a new Alfred State record. 

Mikaela Snayczuk (Machias, NY / Pioneer High School) competed in the 100 breast and finished in third with a time of 1:07.57. Her time broke the school record and only trailed the first place finisher by one second. 

Alyssa James (Pittsford, NY / Pittsford-Mendon) placed first in the 100 backstroke and broke the Alfred State school record in the prelim race earlier that day. Her finals time was 1:00.98, earning the victory by one-tenth of a second. 

 

The Pioneer team of James, O'Keefe, and both Snayczuk sisters won the 400 Medley Relay with a time of 4:02.61. They beat the second-place finishers by over half a second and set a new Alfred State record. 

The four day meet continues tomorrow morning with prelims and finals in the evening.
