Healy Tabbed Alfred State Head Men's and Women's Swimming and Diving Coach

Director of Athletics Jason Doviak announced the hiring of Zach Healy as the new head coach of the Alfred State Men's and Women's Swimming and Diving program. Healy will be taking the reigns of two successful programs which are both coming off conference championship seasons.

Doviak spoke on the new hiring. "Zach's energy, passion, and level of commitment to swimming & diving were apparent throughout the interview process. One of his finest qualities is the level of care and support he provides to his student-athletes both academically and athletically. Zach possesses the knowledge, enthusiasm, and attention to detail that will enable him to lead our program to continued success in the future.  We are excited for him to join our Pioneer family."

Coach Zach Healy is an alumnus of Orchard Park High School, and SUNY Cortland, graduating with the class of 2018'. In high school, he was a Section VI Champion, four-year Section VI State Team Member, and three-time State Conciliation Finalist. In college, swimming primarily as a sprint freestyler, he was a three year member of the SUNYAC Conference Team, and a Conciliation Finalist for the 200 Freestyle in 2016.

Since graduating, he has been coaching at the High School level in NYS Section VI where he helped turn around Maryvale High School's Men's program as an Assistant Coach, and spent the past three seasons as Lancaster High School's Head Men's and Women's Coach. In three seasons at the helm of Lancaster, he has had eight State Qualifiers, two being State Conciliation Finalists, two State Finalists, and one three-time State Champion and All-American. His men's teams of the past two seasons have both finished in the top twenty-five at the State Championship, and has had multiple graduates go on to swim at the collegiate level. Healy has obtained a New York Professional Coaching Certification and is a member of the National Interscholastic Swim Coaches Association.

Healy spoke on his hiring. "I'm extremely excited to join the Alfred State athletics staff, and very thankful for the opportunity. Thank you to all of my colleagues who have pushed me to be a better coach, and to my family for supporting me. I can't wait to finally get to campus and hit the ground running. Go Pioneers!"

Healy will officially begin his duties on August 1, 2023.
