Seven Pioneers Earn All-CSAC Honors

Seven members of the Alfred State women's outdoor track and field team earned spots on the All-Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) after strong performances over the weekend. Emily Brigman (Lancaster) led the way with honors in four events.

Brigman was 1st team by winning the 100 hurdles in 17.57. She was 2nd team by finishing the high jump in 2nd with a leap of 1.40 m. She also earned 2nd team honors by being part of the 4x100 and 4x400 relay teams. In the 4x100 she teamed with Jordyn Pettit (Wellsville), Katherine O'Buckley (Queens/Francis Lewis), and Mikaylah Ruhl (Whitesville) to finish in 54.78 and in the 4x400 she ran with O'Buckley, Marissa Sly (N. Tonawanda) and Julia Russell (Candor).

Sly was a 1st team selection by winning the heptathlon with a six event total of 2,708 points. Pettit was named 2nd after finishing as the runner-up in the pole vault with a 2.60 m effort. Julia Yanarella (Wappingers Falls/Roy Ketcham) was named honorable mention All-CSAC after finishing 3rd in both the javelin (22.00 m) and the high jump (1.30 m).

Sophomore Katherine Frascella (Franklinville) was the Pioneers selection for the All Sportsmanship team.

The Pioneers finished the CSAC Championship in 4th place with 75 points.
