Returners Bryanna Godfrey (Tioga) and Madison Webster (Corning) will lead the Alfred State volleyball team in 2017. The duo along with six other returners and six newcomers will look to continue the winning tradition of the program.

Godfrey was a 1st team USCAA All-American last year after recording 355 kills, 296 digs, and 68 service aces while Webster led the team last year with 424 digs and chipped in 44 aces from her libero position. Godfrey appeared in 111 sets last season while Webster played in 97.

Senior Valerie Intini (Rochester/Eastridge) played in 98 sets and recorded 199 digs as a defensive specialist while the combination of senior Shannon Dwyer (Cutchogue/Mattituck), sophomore Mya Van Duyne (Newark), and sophomore Morgan Hungerford (Lydonville) combined to register 49 kills and 17 blocks in limited action in the middle last season.  Senior Samantha Tumolo (Manorville/Eastport South Manor) will compete for time as setter and junior Nicole Donnelly (Livonia) will fight for time on the back line.

Transfers Sarah Raichlin (Binghamton/Chenango Valley) and Sam Raspudic (Irondequoit) join freshmen Emily Congdon (Canisteo Greenwood), Alyssa Martin (Portville), Kiara Perkins (Coudersport, PA), and Erika Marcello (Rochester/Greece Olympia) as newcomers to the program that has won 95 matches in the last four years.

The season is slated to begin this weekend at Morrisville. The schedule features 27 regular season games and culminates with the ACAA Championship. The Pioneers will host the ACAA Championship during the first weekend of November.
