Volleyball Sweeps Hilbert

The Alfred State volleyball team evened up their record with a 25-13, 25-14, 25-14 victory over Hilbert on Wednesday night. The Pioneers are now 8-8 overall and 2-3 in AMCC play.

In the opening set, Kiara Perkins (Coudersport, PA) served eleven straight times as Alfred State erased a 9-8 deficit and took control of the match. In set two, the Pioneers led 12-5 and never looked back. In the final set, the Pioneers trailed 7-5 but scored nine straight to take a lead for good.

Alyssa Fox (Letchworth) led the team with 12 kills and four service aces. Perkins finished with seven kills, Megan Gridley (Corning Painted Post) had eight digs, and Jordan McCooey (Horseheads) passed out 23 assists. 

The Pioneers finished the night with a .222 hitting percentage (30 kills, 12 errors, 81 attempts) and collected nine service aces.

Alfred State heads to Mt. Aloysius on Saturday for a pair of AMCC matches. They play the hosts at 1 p.m. and Franciscan at 3 p.m.
