Pioneers Get Ready To Host AMCC Championship

The Alfred State Women's Volleyball team will be hosting the AMCC Conference semi-finals and finals for the first time in program history, this weekend November 5 and 6. After finishing the conference regular season 7-0 dropping only four sets the entire conference schedule.


The Pioneers will be hosting #2 Penn.- St. Behrend, #3 Mt. Aloysius, and #5 Penn.- St. Altoona. The first match features the Pioneers and Penn.- St. Altoona, and is set to begin at 2 p.m. on Saturday, November 5. The last time these two teams squared off, the Pioneers were forced to five sets, before squeezing out the last victory of the regular season. On Saturday, a week from their previous meeting, the two teams square off for a spot in the AMCC Championship match.

Karleigh Haines (Jamestown, NY / Jamestown) has been the kill leader in the last 13 of the 14 matches for the Pioneers. She has been essential in what has been the longest win streak in the program's history. Keturah Gregory (Laurel, MD / High Point) has been a force in the middle for the Pioneers, leading the offense and defense all season long, leading the AMCC in hitting percentage at .366. Pioneer setter Nayomie Ferrer Santiago (San Juan, PR / Eastridge) is the leader in service aces per set in the conferences, averaging 0.81 per. Ferrer Santiago is also third in the conference in assists per set, with 7.26.

The Pioneers match will be followed with #2 Penn.- St. Behrend going against #3 Mt. Aloysius for the second spot in the Sunday championship match.
