Russell Wins ACAA Championship, Team Finishes 2nd

Julia Russell (Candor) won the 2018 ACAA Cross Country individual title as she helped lead Alfred State to a 2nd place overall finish. The Pioneers finished with a score of 43 just one point behind SUNY Delhi in the team standings.

Russell ran the 6k course at the SUNY Delhi Golf Course in 25:00.0 to claim the individual title. She averaged 6:45 per mile and finished just over 28 seconds before the second place finisher Kalie Keyes from SUNY Delhi. Veronica Dailey (Addison) crossed the finish line in 3rd in 25:39.1. Katherine Watkins (Addison) finished in 8th place in 27:12.3, Katherine Frascella (Franklinville) was 13th overall (28:20.4), and Molly Heaphy (West Hempstead/Long Island Lutheran) rounded out the top five with a 18th place finish (29:27.3).

Russell and Dailey earned 1st team All-ACAA honors with their performances while Watkins and Frascella raced to 2nd team honors.

Delhi took the team title with a team score of 42. Alfred State scored a 43 and Pratt Institute was 3rd with 49, Mills (CA) was 4th with 115, and Finlandia (MI) was 5th with 126. Valley Forge (PA) participated but did not score.

The Pioneers will next be in action in two weeks when they compete at the NCAA DIII Mideast Regional Championships in Center Valley, PA
