Pioneers Race to 2nd at AMCC Championships

Running through the mud, the Alfred State women's cross country team finished 2nd at the 2021 AMCC Championships on their home course.

Sarah Rivet (Shenendehowa) and Katie Watkins (Addison) led the Pioneers. Rivet was 10th in 31:30.90 and Watkins was 11th (31:31.65). Both earned All-AMCC honors with their finishes of the 6k course.

Oliva Nola of Penn State Behrend won the women's individual time with an impressive time of 26:57.53. Five of the top eight finishers were Lions as they took the team title with a score of 19.

Laura Ferris (Victor/Mercy) was 16th (32:01.95), Mattison Buckley (Wellsville) was 21st (34:52.04), Summer Kier (East Rochester) was 25th (37:06.67), and Anna Hersom (Byron Bergen) was 26th (37:07.25).

Alfred State scored a 60 in the race to take 2nd in the team standings. Hilbert was 3rd (65 points) and Medaille was 4th (66 points). Runners from Pitt-Greensburg, Mt. Aloysius, and LaRoche also competed.

The Pioneers will head to Geneseo in two weeks for the NCAA East Regionals
