Pioneers Race to ACAA Title

The Alfred State women's cross country team raced to the American Collegiate Athletic Conference Championship at the SUNY Delhi Golf Course on Saturday morning. The Pioneers scored a 27 to finish 11 points ahead of Delhi.

Lindsey Thiel (Liverpool) finished 2nd overall on the 6k course. She finished in 25:52.6 just 13 seconds behind race winner Megan Knorr (Valley Forge). Olivia Leonti (Port Byron) was 3rd in 26:35, Katherine Frascella (Franklinville) was 4th in 26:53.4, Cassidy McCourt (Buffalo/Emerson) was 7th in 27:49.9, and Emily Brigman (Lancaster) rounded out the Pioneer top five with a 17th place finish in 30:39.4. Cassandra Ryan (Gloversville) was 18th (30:53.5), Betsy Butlak (Angola/Lake Shore) was 25th (33:53.5), and Holly Fiore (Niagara Falls) was 26th (33:54.7).

The Pioneers scored a 27 to win the meet. Delhi was 2nd with 38, SUNY Canton 3rd with 81, and Mills (CA) was 4th with 85. Finlandia (MI) and Valley Forge did not field a complete team. 37 runners finished the first ever ACAA Championship race.

Thiel, Leonti, Frascella, and McCourt earned 1st team All-ACAA with their finishes.
