Five Pioneers Earn AMCC Weekly Honors

Five Alfred State student-athletes have earned AMCC Player of the Week honors. Volleyball setter Nayomie Ferrer (Eastridge), swimmers Mikaela Snayczuk (Machias/Pioneer) and Luca Aldewereld (Cleveland, OH), and divers Samuel Ricci (Oaks, PA) and Sarah Streeter (Byron Bergen) were honored.

Ferrer passed out 101 assists in three victories this week for the Pioneers. She averaged 12.33 assists per set. She had 30 assists, four digs, and two aces in a sweep of Medaille. She then passed out 44 assists, recorded three kills, three digs, and three aces in the AMCC sweep of Mt. Aloysius. In the second sweep of the Mounties, she passed out 27 assists, recorded five digs, and had three service aces in two sets.

Mikaela Snayczuk has won all six individual events that she has swam in a pair of Alfred State victories to start the season. Snayczuk won the 100 breast in 1:12.99, the 200 fly in 2:50.57, and the 100 fly in 1:08.13 vs. Buffalo State. Againt Fredonia, Snayczuk won the the 200 IM (2:23.68), the 100 fly (1:07.16), and the 100 breast (1:12.57).

Aldewereld set a new Alfred State NCAA-era record in winning the 50 free (21.84) in the Pioneers victory over Fredonia. He was also part of the winning 200 medley relay and 200 free relay team. The 200 free relay team set a new school record, winning 1:29.74. In the first meet of the season vs. Buffalo State he won the 50 free in 22.14 and was 2nd in the 100 free (49.54).

Ricci was 2nd on the 1m board (246.5) and 2nd on the 3m board (232.65) vs. Buffalo State and won the 1m competition vs. Fredonia (236.9).

Streeter won the 1m diving competition in both of the first two meets. She scored 148.75 vs. Buffalo State and 131.70 vs. Fredonia.

Ferrer and the volleyball team have a pair of AMCC matches this week, at Penn State Behrend on Wednesday and at home vs. La Roche.

The swimming & diving team is off until October 30 when they travel to Penn State Behrend to open AMCC action.
