Gregory, Sarbudak, and Bathgate Named ASC Athletes of the Week
Volleyball player Keturah Gregory (Laurel, MD), soccer player Nuri Sarbudak (Pittsford Mendon), and Gavin Bathgate (East Rochester) have been named the Alfred State Athletes of the Week.
Gregory had a pair of big matches this week as the volleyball team remained perfect at home with sweeps of Hilbert and Pitt-Bradford. She had nine kills and four blocks in a victory over Hilbert and then had 12 kills and four more blocks in a sweep of Pitt Bradford. She finished the week with 3.50 kills per set, eight blocks, and a .679 hitting percentage.
Sarbudak led the men's soccer team with four goals in a pair of wins. He scored two goals in a 6-0 win over Hilbert to lift the Pioneers into the postseason. In the AMCC quarterfinals, Sarbudak scored a goal in each half to lift Alfred State to a 2-0 victory over #5 Pitt-Bradford.
Bathgate defended his AMCC crown and became a back-to-back champion on the muddy cross country course at Alfred State. He finished the 8k course in 29:25.01 to finish over 22 seconds ahead of the second place finisher. Bathgate helped the Pioneers to a 2nd place finish in the team standings.
