Snayczuk, Aldewereld, Wilkerson Named ASC Athletes of the Week

Madison Snayczuk (Machias/Pioneer) of women's swimming and diving, Luca Aldewereld (Cleveland, OH) of men's swimming and diving and Basheem Wilkerson (Brooklyn/John Jay) of men's basketball have been named the Alfred State College Athletes of the Week.

Snayczuk won three events, broke a program record, and set three pool records in the Alfred State women's swimming and diving 133-57 win over Roberts Wesleyan on Saturday at the Voller Athletic Center.

She broke the Pioneers program record and set the pool record in the 50-yard free with a time of 25.20.

She also set a pool record in the 100-yard free with a time of 56.27 and was the anchor for the of the winning 400-yard medley relay which included Alyssa James, Mikaela Snayczuk and Mackenzie Gillette. The relay won in a time of 4:21.46.

Snayczuk was named the AMCC swimmer of the week.

Aldewereld won two events and broke two pool records in the Alfred State men's swimming and diving 168-35 win over Roberts Wesleyan on Saturday to help assist the Pioneers to a 7-0 regular season record.

He won the 50-yard free and set a new pool record in 21.26 seconds and in the 100-yard free won with a new pool record of 48.46 seconds.

Wilkerson came off the bench to lead the Alfred State men's basketball team to two victories over AMCC opponents this past week and had two double figure games to make that 11 total for the season.

In the Pioneers 94-86 win over Pitt.-Bradford Wilkerson recorded 14 points and added five rebounds, three assists and three steals.

In their 72-70 thriller win over Mt. Aloysius Wilkerson scored 12 points including the game winning basket in the final second of the game. (Click here to see the game winning basket.)
