Division 3 Week Q&A with Ben Ba

Division 3 Week Q&A with Ben Ba

By: Josh Romero, Athletic Communications Intern

As a part of the 2022 Division III Week from April 4-10, Alfred State Athletics will be unveiling a Q&A to highlight with some Pioneers who embody the ideals of a Division III student-athlete.

  1. Why did you choose Alfred State/Division III?

I chose Alfred State because it meets all the criteria, I wanted in a college in terms of being affordable, a little far from home, & getting the chance to continue playing football which is a blessing.

 2. How does being a Division III student-athlete better prepare you in life?

It prepares you for life because it helps you make sure you have your priority straight and you have time management. You have so much to do but only you can control how serious you take it and I feel like it's an intro to the real world.

3. What will you (or do you) miss the most about Alfred State/ your team?

I will miss the bond and friendship I've made with people that I met since being here whether an athlete or not.

 4. What life lessons have you learned from being a Division III collegiate athlete?

A life lesson I've learned as a collegiate athlete is it a marathon not a race. It's always easier to quit when things are not going your way or when you feel discourage, but you should stay the course because the harder the road the better the feeling when it's your turn up next.

5. What is your favorite memory so far at Alfred State?

My Favorite memory is every game we've won since I've been here.

 6. What advice would you give to incoming freshmen?

Advice I would give an incoming freshman is prioritize your goals and why you are here. If you don't do that then you're wasting your own time and we all don't have as much time as we think so, take advantage.
