Division 3 Week Q&A with My'ana Davis

As a part of the 2022 Division III Week from April 4-10, Alfred State Athletics will be unveiling a Q&A to highlight with some Pioneers who embody the ideals of a Division III student-athlete.

Why did you choose Alfred State/Division III?

I chose Alfred State because it was convenient and close to home, also my dad graduated from Alfred State, so it gave me a sense of relation.

How does being a Division III student-athlete better prepare you in life?

Being a student athlete better prepares me for life because it involves discipline, you have to be disciplined to be able to focus on your grades and athletics at the same time, you must be disciplined to be able to get up at 6:00am for practice. You must be disciplined to be able to know that all your hard work will pay for, so being a student athlete helps you train not only your body but your mind.

What will you (or do you) miss the most about Alfred State/ your team?

What I will miss most about my team is the laughs and the jokes we have. As a team we connect on the court but off the court our bond is stronger than ever, and we have a lot of fun times. I genuinely enjoy spending time with them.

What life lessons have you learned from being a collegiate athlete?

A life lesson I have learned from being a student athlete is never giving up, just keep your head, stay calm & things will work themselves out.

What is your favorite memory so far at Alfred State?

My favorite memory is after both teams took a hard loss to Hilbert, on the bus ride home we all got together and enjoyed each other's company. Instead of being angry we took it as motivation and appreciated being in the moment together.
