The Pioneers Earn Automatic Bid To The NCAA Tournament

Alfred, NY- Alfred State is headed to the NCAA Tournament for the first time in program history as announced by the national office Monday afternoon.  

The Pioneers won the AMCC conference tournament to receive the conference's automatic bid after finishing the regular season 15-3. The Pioneers were the three seed heading into the tournament before taking down the sixth seed, the two seed, and the number one seed on penalty kicks.

The Pios are lead Garrett Potts and Nuri Sarbudak who combined for 31 goals this season. Potts led the way with 18 goals while Sarbudak tallied 13. Jackson Powers leads the team in assists with seven, while Jack Leahy and Ali Mata-Ruiz added six assists each.

Alfred State is set to travel to Cortland to take on the Red Dragons this Saturday at 11 am.

Head Coach Gabe Kuhn added, "It is an honor to be in the national tournament for the first time in program history. We are excited to play one of the best teams in the country and the team is ready for the challenge!"
