Five Pioneers Named AMCC All-Conference

Five members of the Alfred State baseball team have been named to one of three AMCC All-Conference teams.

First team All-Conference honorees include Matteo Avallone (Mahopac/Bridgton Academy) for outfield, Jack Josephson (Penfield) for pitching and Nick Serce (Irondequoit) for first base.

Second team All-Conference honorees include Sam Dickerson (Cutchogue/Mattituck) for outfield and Jack Curabba (Shohola, Pa/Delaware Valley) for designated hitter.

In the regular season, Avallone started all 38 games and 16 conference games. He led the AMCC in home runs with 9, hits with 59 and total bases with 98. He was second in doubles with 12, second in RBIs with 39 and second in slugging percentage with .671. He was third in on base percentage with .473, fourth in runs with 31 and fifth in batting average with .404.

He finished the season starting all 43 games and recorded 64 hits, 36 runs, 10 home runs, 12 doubles, 45 RBIs, 5 stolen bases, and 106 total bases. Offensively, he had 127 put outs, 8 assists, a .971 fielding percentage and 3 double plays. He was named AMCC player of the week twice.

As a first year, Josephson was first in the AMCC in strike outs with 55, was tied for second in wins with 5 and was third in ERA with 3.17 in the regular season. Overall, he pitched 13 games with 9 starts, 6 wins, recorded 70.2 innings pitched and 63 strikeouts.

In the regular season, Serce was second in the AMCC in home runs with 7 and sixth in put outs with 181. He has started 36 games including all 16 conference games. He had a .460 batting average, a .780 slugging percentage, a .554 on base percentage and a .100 fielding percentage.

He finished the season with 41 games, 49 hits, 32 runs, 11 doubles, 1 triple, 9 home runs, 35 RBIs and 2 stolen bases. Offensivly, he had a .991 fielding percentage and had 216 put outs, 15 assists and 15 double plays. He has been named AMCC player of the week twice.

In the regular season, Dickerson started 37 games, including all 16 conference games. In the AMCC he was fourth in batting average with .446 and 14th in stolen bases with 8. He had a .696 slugging percentage, a .475 on base percentage and a .100 fielding percentage.

He finished the season playing 42 games and recorded 49 hits, 18 runs, 13 doubles, 4 triples, 2 homeruns, 24 RBIs, 76 total bases, 9 stolen bases, 97 put outs and 6 assists.

In the regular season, Curabba has started 25 games and 14 conference. He had a .358 batting average and .415 slugging percentage in conference play and .313 batting average and a .373 slugging percentage overall.

He finished the season playing 30 games and recorded 36 hits, 22 runs, 6 doubles and 18 RBIs. He had 42 total bases with a .398 on base percentage.
