Western Equestrian Wraps up Regular Season

The Alfred State western equestrian team wrapped up the regular season with a pair of reserve high point (tied for High Point in the AM show) finishes at Alfred University.

In the AM show the team tied for the high point honors. Alyssa Beardsley (Letchworth) was the reserve high point rider. She finished 2nd in open reining and 2nd in open horsemanship. Jinean Erickson (Holden, MA) and Sydnee Ganoung (Allegany Limestone) each finished 1st in beginner competitions while newcomer Bree Kus (Cuba Rushford) and Jennifer Cirigliano (Patterson) were 2nd in Rookie B. In the AM show, Ganoung, Cirigliano, and Paige Skinner (Campbell Savona) qualified for Regionals.

Beardsley repeated as the reserve high point rider in the PM show after finishing 2nd in both the open reining and open horsemanship. Erickson won 1st in the beginner competition to lead the way while Leeanna Bianci (Hilton) was 3rd in Level III, Ganoung was 3rd in Rookie A, and Ashley Herbert (Spencerport) was 3rd in Rookie B. Erickson and Herbert qualified for Regionals in the afternoon show.

The Pioneers had their best season to date. They finished the regular season with four high point victories, one high point tie, and three reserve high point honors. Nine riders have advanced to the Regionals that will take place next Sunday at Alfred University (2/16).
