Strong First Half Was Not Enough Against Raiders

Alliance, OH- The Alfred State football team sees their season come to a close in the NCAA first round against the Mount Union Raiders 56-14. The Pioneers finish their season with a 6-5 record.

Justin Horvath went 12-28 for 117 yards and two touchdowns. Jazir Francois and Ben Ba were on the receiving end of the touchdowns. Francois had three catches for 54 yards, while Ba had four catches for 35 yards. Jake Palmer led the rushing attack with 12 carries for 90 yards.

Silas Egenlauf tallied 17 tackles, while Danny Browning and Dylan Knight notched 10 each. David Harrel came away with the game's interception, while adding six tackles.

The Raider got on the board first with a touchdown of their first possession. The Pios would answer on their first possession. Following a 33-yard run by Rylie Van Fleet, Horvath found Francois over the middle for a touchdown to tie the game at 7-7. Mount Union would score of their next three possessions to take a 28-7.

In the second quarter, the Pioneers scored their second touchdown. This time Horvath capped off the drive with a 15-yard touchdown pass to Ba to cut the Raiders lead down to two scores 28-14.

The Raiders would hold the Pioneers scoreless in the second half to claim the win.
