Tough Overtime Battle Goes to Davis

Forty minutes wasn't enough as Alfred State and Davis College battled into overtime with the Falcons using a 9-0 run to start OT to earn the 111-102 victory.  Davis improves to 5-4 while the Pioneers are 0-7.

In the first 12 minutes of the contest both teams netted 35 points.  The Falcons went on a 35 to 14 run to end the half and start the 2nd half before the Pioneers started their comeback with 16 minutes remaining in the game.

With 5.1 seconds remaining Tavon Moore (Syracuse/Bishop Grimes) tied the game up at 97-97 when he hit an off balanced three.  Davis had a shot at the buzzer but the attempt hit the side of the basket.

The Falcons came out in overtime and scored the first nine points and never looked back.

Dexter Terry led Davis with 26 points and 16 rebounds while Jarrod Thomas had a quadruple-double finishing with 16 points, 12 rebounds, 11 assists, and 10 steals.  Four Falcons finished in double figures and the team connected on 12 three-pointers (9 in the 1st half).

Tommy Hutson (Brooklyn/Susan McKinney) scored 23 of his game high 29 points in the 2nd half to lead the Pioneers.  Moore finished with 19 points, Thomas Stein (Caledonia Mumford) and Rob Adams (Jasper Troupsburg) each had 12, and Bradley Ferraro (Mt. Morris) came off the bench and chipped in 11.

Alfred State shot 50.6% from the field and was 10 for 26 from beyond the three-point arc.  Davis shot 44.4% from the field and held a 58 to 46 rebounding average.
