Hot Shooting Lifts Ithaca Past Pioneers

Ithaca connected on 19 three-pointers as they defeated Alfred State 124-80 on day two of the Special Tees Alfred Classic.

Logan Wendell was 7 for 10 from three and led all scorers with 33 points. Luka Radovich finished with 15, Liam Spellman added 14, Andrew Geschickter had 13, and Jack Stern chipped in 12. The Bombers (1-1) were 9 for 21 from three in the 1st half and 10 for 17 in the 2nd half. They finished the contest shooting 57.7% overall.

Tavion Williams (Bronx/FDA) led the Pioneers with 17 points while Josh Reding (Spencerport) finished with 16 points. Ryan Rosa (Middletown) chipped in 10. The Pioneers shot only 23.7% from the field in the 1st half and fell behind early. They put together a few solid stretches in the 2nd half, shooting 47.2% from the floor, but never could cool down the hot shooting of Ithaca.

In the other day two match-up of the Alfred Classic, St. Lawrence defeated Alfred University 69-65 in overtime.

The Pioneers head across Allegany County on Wednesday for a 7 p.m. contest at Houghton.
