Four Pioneers score in double digits in win over Mt. Aloysius

Four members of the Alfred State men's basketball team scored in double digits as the Pioneers defeated Mt. Aloysius 92-81 on Saturday at the Athletic Convocation & Wellness Center in Cresson, PA.

The Pioneers improve to 4-5 overall and 1-2 in the AMCC while the Mounties fall to 2-8 overall and 0-3 in the conference.

Mt. Aloysius out-rebounded Alfred State 36-32 and out-shot them 59.7% to 38.7% from the floor but the Pioneers shot 87.1% in free throws compared to the Mounties 25%.

Tavion Williams (Bronx/FDA) scored 23 points including going 6-for-6 from the free throw line. Josh Reding (Spencerport) added 17 points and went 8-for-10 in free throws. Basheem Wilkerson (Brooklyn/John Jay) posted 16 points and picked up a team-high 11 rebounds and Paris Jamison (Brooklyn/East Side Community) had 11 points.

The lead changed eight times and the game was tied 10 times before the Pioneers took over for good.

Alfred State capitalized on Mt. Aloysius 's 23 personal fouls and scored 27 points off free throws and recorded 34 points off their 26 turnovers.

The Pioneers led 45-41 at halftime and put up 47 points in the second half and held the Mounties to 40.

Alfred State is back home Saturday, Dec. 18 to host AMCC foe Hilbert at 3 p.m.
