The Alfred State men's basketball team fell to the Utica College Pioneers 90-77 on day one of the Utica College Tournament Wednesday evening inside Harold T. Clark Athletic Center.
Alfred State is now 4-7 overall after shooting 42.5%, going 10-for-11 in free throws and recording 19 assists. Both teams logged 40 rebounds and 11 steals.
Paris Jamison (Brooklyn/East Side Community) led the team with 13 points, Basheem Wilkerson (Brooklyn/John Jay) recorded 12 points, a team-high nine rebounds and three assists, Josh Reding (Spencerport) chipped in 11 points with three assists and Josh Romero (Bronx/Theodore Roosevelt) logged a team-high seven assists.
Alfred State held the lead for the first 12 minutes of the game but Utica out-scored them 44-31 in the first half. Both teams recorded 46 points in the second half.
The Pioneers play SUNY Poly at 2 p.m. in the Wildcats Campus Center Gym on Thursday, Dec. 30. Please note that no spectators will be allowed at the game.
