Reding Nets 21 in Penn State-Behrend Loss

Josh Reding (Spencerport) tied his season high of 21 points in the Alfred State men's basketball 81-67 loss to the Penn State-Behrend Lions Wednesday evening inside Junker Center Gym.

The Pioneers move to 6-10 overall and 2-6 in the AMCC while the Lions improve to 13-2 overall and 8-0 in the conference.

Alfred State shot 39.1% in field goals, 57.9% in free throws and picked up 33 rebounds while Penn State-Behrend was 44.4% in field goals, 82.1% in free throws and had 45 rebounds.

Reding recorded his 15th double digit game and his fourth 21-point game this season. He added four assists and five rebounds.

Donte Jones (Brooklyn/ Brooklyn Collegiate) had 13 points and a team-high of nine rebounds. Basheem Wilkerson (Brooklyn/John Jay) and Paris Jamison (Brooklyn/East Side Community) both chipped in eight points.

The lead changed seven times in the first half and the Lions led 44-35 at halftime.

The Pioneers started the second half with an eight-point run to come within one point of the lead and took a one-point edge with 7:53 left in the game.

Despite their efforts, Alfred State committed 14 fouls in the second half and Penn State-Behrend was able to score 15 points off free throws.

The men are back in action on Wednesday, Jan. 26 to play AMCC opponent Pitt. Bradford at 7:30 p.m. in Pennsylvania.
