Seven Pioneers Put Up Double Figures in Pitt. Bradford Win

Seven Alfred State men's basketball players scored in double digits in the Pioneers 94-86 win over the Pitt. Bradford Panthers on Wednesday evening inside KOA Arena.

The Pioneers improve to 7-10 overall and 3-6 in the AMCC while the Panther move to 8-10 overall and 3-6 in the conference.

Alfred State shot 47.8% in field goals, 40% in three-pointers, 47.8% in free throws, recorded 34 rebounds, 16 steals and 13 assists.

Basheem Wilkerson (Brooklyn/John Jay) and Donte Jones (Brooklyn/ Brooklyn Collegiate) led the team with 14 points each. Wilkerson added five rebounds, three assists and three steals. Jones had four rebounds.

Josh Romero (Bronx/Theodore Roosevelt) scored 12 points, picked up four rebounds and had four assists.

Josh Reding (Spencerport) and Isaiah Kostyal (Poughkeepsie/Arlington) both had 11 points and four rebounds.

Tavion Williams (Bronx/FDA) and Ryan Rosa (Middletown) each chipped in 10 points.

The game was tied five times and the lead changed four timed before the Pioneers took and kept it. Alfred State went on an 11-point run for a ten-point edge with 8:16 left in the first half and headed into halftime up 48-35.

The Pioneers took their largest advantage of 21 points with 11:49 remaining in the game. The Panthers out-scored the Alfred State 51-46 in the second half but the Pioneers took the eight-point win.

The men are back home on Saturday, Jan. 29 to host AMCC opponent Mt. Aloysius at 3 p.m.
