Jones and Williams Score 14 Points Each in Penn State Behrend Loss

Donte Jones (Brooklyn/ Brooklyn Collegiate) and Tavion Williams (Bronx/FDA) scored 14 points apiece in the Alfred State men's basketball 81-69 loss to the Penn State Behrend Lions Wednesday evening inside Orvis Gymnasium.

The Pioneers move to 8-13 overall and 4-9 in the AMCC while the Lions improve to 16-4 overall and 11-2 in the conference.

Alfred State out-shot Penn State Behrend in field goal percentage, 50%-41.8%, three-point percentage, 36.4%-20.8%, and free throw percentage, 100%-83.3%. The Lions picked up 44 rebounds and the Pioneers had 26.

Basheem Wilkerson (Brooklyn/John Jay) recorded 10 points, five rebounds and three assists. Paris Jamison (Brooklyn/East Side Community) added eight points and Josh Romero (Bronx/Theodore Roosevelt) had seven points. Josh Reding (Spencerport) scored seven points and had six assists and Williams chipped in three assists.

The first half was tied three times and the lead changed three times until the Lions went on a nine-point spree to take and keep it.

The Pioneers came within two points of the lead with 8:38 remaining.

Penn State Behrend led by ten with 6:56 left in the first half and Alfred State cut it to three points four minutes later. The Lions out-scored the Pioneers 10-4 in the final two minute to head into halftime up 41-32.

Alfred Sate came within six points of the lead with 9:10 left on the clock but Penn State Behrend took their largest lead of 18 points with 1:37 remaining in the game. The Pioneers were able to cut it 12 by the end of the game.

The men are back home Saturday, Feb. 12 to host AMCC opponent La Roche at 4 p.m.
