Pioneers Fall in Lacrosse Finale

The Alfred State lacrosse team closed out their 2014 season with a 22-3 loss at Elmira on Saturday.  The game was a make-up of a game that was cancelled in mid-March due to a snowstorm.

The Soaring Eagles scored all nine of the games 1st quarter goals and led 10-0 17:55 into the game before the Pioneers got on the board.  The Pioneers outscored Elmira 2-1 in the 2nd but could not get any closer in the 2nd half.

David Ford (Sewanhaka) led the Pioneers with a goal and an assist while Nate Spoor (Penn Yan) and Dominic Arresta (Southhampton) scored once.  Andrew Delligatti (Fox Lane) passed out an assist.  Mike Alessi (Liverpool) made 12 saves in just over 42 minutes of action.

David Evert led Elmira with 8 points (1 goal and 7 assists) while Brady Richards had seven (six goals and an assist) and Jackson Correia had six (5 goals and 1 assists).

The blue & gold conclude their first season as a member of DIII of the NCAA with a 2-15 record.
