OT Goal Lifts Potsdam Past Pioneers

Alfred State and Potsdam were scoreless for over 95 minutes before the Bears were able to net a goal with 4:22 remaining in the 1st overtime to earn a 1-0 victory on Saturday.

After a free kick got the ball into the Alfred State box, Justin Mossey was able to find the back of the net after controlling a loose ball in front of a sliding Thad Grierson (Perry). Zach Saddlemire was credited with the assist.

Potsdam held a 16 to 6 shot advantage in the contest and controlled possession for a majority of the game. Grierson was key to keeping the game scoreless and sending it into extra time. He made eight saves including a diving stop on a penalty kick in the 79th minute.

Conor Callan earned the win in net for Potsdam (1-1-2) with two saves.

The Pioneers are back on the field on Wednesday when they host Cazenovia at 5 p.m. at Pioneer Stadium.
