Men's Soccer Earns #5 Seed in AMCC Tournament

The Alfred State men's soccer team has earned the #5 seed for the 2021 AMCC Tournament. The Pioneers will travel to #4 Pitt-Bradford on Saturday for a first round contest.

Alfred State finished the regular season with a 6-10 overall record and a 3-5 mark in conference play. The Pioneers earned the 5th seed after winning the tie-breakers over Pitt-Greensburg and Penn State Altoona.

Their first round match vs. the Panthers, 2 p.m. on Saturday, will be a rematch of the first AMCC contest for the Pioneers. On September 18th, Alfred State fell behind 1-0 to UPB early in the game but scored the next three goals and had a 3-1 lead early in the second half but the Panthers scored three goals in the final 20 minutes including the game-winner with just over six minutes remaining.

Alfred State has won their last two matches and is 3-3 in the month of October. Nuri Sarbudak (Pittsford Mendon) leads the team with 12 points (five goals and two assists) while Camren Larabee (Cuba Rushford) has three goals in the last two games and has eight total points on the season. Thad Grierson (Perry) has started all 16 games in net and has a 1.66 goals against average and 66 saves.

The Pioneers, who have five more wins than the 2019 season, will be making their first appearance in the AMCC Tournament.

The winner of the match will advance to the AMCC semifinals on Wednesday (11/3) at #1 seed Medaille.
