Pioneers Moving On with Shutout in AMCC Quarterfinals

The Alfred State men's soccer team moved on to the AMCC semifinals with a 2-0 victory over Pitt-Bradford on Saturday afternoon. The #5 seeded Pioneers will take on #1 Medaille on Wednesday (11/3).

Nuri Sarbudak (Pittsford Mendon) scored a pair of goals and Thad Grierson (Perry) made five saves in net to earn the victory.

Sarbudak's first goal game late in the 1st half. He was able to get one past the Panther goalkeeper after getting a pass from Camren Larabee (Cuba Rushford) with 5:11 left in the half.

The game remained 1-0 until late when Sarbudak was able to fire a long shot over the goal keeper from 40 yards out to seal the victory.

Alfred State held a 15 to 8 shot advantage in the game. 

This is the first appearance in the AMCC Tournament for the Alfred State men's soccer team. They continue their run in Buffalo on Wednesday afternoon (4 p.m.) when they take on Medaille. Medaille defeated Alfred State 2-0 in their regular season match-up.
