Pioneers Advance To The Next Round!

Alfred, NY- Alfred State advances to the semi-finals of the AMCC Tourney after taking down Hilbert 7-1. Two Pioneers tallied braces in the effort.

Garrett Potts led the way with two goals and an assist, while Riley Warren-Nichols added two goals as well. Jackson Powers led the passing game as he tallied three assists on the day.

The Hawks got on the board first in the 6th minute. Potts knotted the game at 1-1 with a goal off the assist from Andres Mateos in the 15th minute. Then Henry Leahy gave the Pio's the lead off a pass from Powers. With the 2-1 lead the Pioneers got hot, as they scored two more goals before halftime. Nuri Sarbudak scored the first one and Warren-Nichols put in the second for the 4-1 lead.

Following halftime, it only took Potts 45 seconds to get the first goal of the half and extend the lead to 5-1. Later in the 65th minute, Liam Hyatt found Alexander Romero for a goal and the 6-1 lead. Warren-Nichols left no doubt as he scored in the final minute off a pass from Josh Price.

The Pioneers will now head to Penn State Behrend for the next round of the tournament.
