The Pioneers Claim The AMCC Title

Cresson, PA – The Pioneers Men's Soccer team claim the AMCC title for the first time in program history, after taking down Mt Aloysius 4-3 in PKs.

Ali Mata-Ruiz scored the lone goal for the Pioneers, while Brayden Fox saw three shots on goal and notched two saves.

Mt Aloysius got on the board first in the first half on a penalty kick. Alfred State found the game tying goal in the 76th minute to tie the game at 1-1 and force extras.

After two scoreless, overtime periods the winner would be claimed in a shootout. MAC went first and scored then Fox would get a save on the next Aloysius attempt. Jack Leahy would tie it at 1-1 with a goal. Fox got another save so all the Pioneers had to do was make the next three to get the win, and Jackson Powers, Nuri Sarbudak, and Alexander Romero would get the job done.

Jack Leahy, Brayden Fox, and Andres Mateos earned All-Tournament Team honors as well.
