Men Open Season at Houghton December Classic

The Alfred State Men's Track and Field season opened today at the Houghton December Classic.

Some Highlights from today's opening meet:

After finishing his cross-country season as a regional qualifier, Gavin Bathgate started right where he left off. Bathgate won the men's 5000m with a time of 15:39.43. He finished a full eleven seconds ahead of the second-place finisher.

Bathgate also raced in the 3000m in today's meet. He finished in second place with a time of 9:11.97.

Esaias Brumfield finished in the top ten of the Men's 60m sprint. The Junior finished in 7.24 seconds, beating out the eighth-place spot by 2 hundredths of a second.  

The men's 4x200 relay had a strong showing from the Pioneer runners. A fourth-place finish with a time of 1:35.53 was only half a second quicker than the two spots behind the Pioneers. Nicholas Florczak, Esaias Brumfield, Derek Walter, Shawn Rosa were the Pioneers competing in the event.

Aden Alexander competed in the men's triple jump event in today's meet. He scored a 12.47, netting him a fourth-place finish.

The Pioneers are back in action at Nazareth next week on December 9.
