Bathgate Defends Title - Pioneers 2nd at AMCC Championships

Gavin Bathgate (East Rochester) defended his title as the Alfred State men's cross country team finished 2nd at the 2021 AMCC Championships. 

Bathgate was able to cross the finish line of the muddy and sloppy 8k course at Alfred State in 29:25.01 to win his second straight AMCC Championship individual title. He finished just over 22 seconds ahead of Phoenix Myers from Penn State Behrend. 

Myers led the Lions pack of six straight runners that led Penn State Behrend to the team title with 20 points.

Alfred State finished 2nd in the team competition with 40 points. Andrew Hvisdak (Orchard Park/Hamburg) was the second Pioneer in finishing in 10th (32:51.05). Ryan Weir (Schertz, TX) was 12th (33:22.58), and Brian Clark (Bethpage) was 14th (33:35.94). The Pioneers top four finishers all earn All-AMCC honors with their performances.

Aiden Bonomo (Manalapan, NJ) was 17th (35:24.06), Jeff Jijy (New Hyde Park) was 28th (39:49.31), Will Swarts (Skaneateles) was 30th (40:06.05), and Jeremy Pennock (Ballston Lake) was 35th (47:22.47).

Medaille finished 3rd with 61 points while Mt. Aloysius was 4th with 89 points. Individual runners from Hilbert, Pitt-Greensburg, and La Roche also competed.

The Pioneers will head to Geneseo in two weeks for the NCAA East Regionals
