Tigers Take a Pair from the Pioneers

RIT defeated Alfred State in both ends of a Tuesday afternoon doubleheader. The Tigers took the opener 6-0 and the nightcap 11-1.

In the opener, the Tigers scored two unearned runs to grab the early lead. The game remained 2-0 until the 6th when RIT added an insurance run. They put the game out of reach with three more in the 7th.

Kailey Wonica (Staten Island/Moore Catholic) was the lone Pioneer with multiple hits in the opener finishing 2 for 3. Brittany Fisher (Indianapolis, IN) allowed four earned runs in seven innings of work on the mound.

RIT scored in every inning except for the 5th in the nightcap. They scored single runs in the 1st and 2nd and then added two runs each in the 3rd and 5th. They added five more in the 6th. The Pioneers got their lone run of the game in the 6th when Sarah Boyce (Cortland) tripled to lead off the inning and scored one batter later on a RBI single by Wonica.

Boyce finished the contest 3 for 3 with a run scored while Audrey Farrell (York/Notre Dame) was 2 for 3.

Raquel Estrada was 5 for 7 with 2 RBI to lead RIT (3-5) while teammate Brianna Bilich was 3-6 with 3 RBI on the day.

The Pioneers have a few days off before returning to AMCC play on Saturday when they host Pitt-Greensburg at 1 p.m.
