Randall Named Softball Coach

Todd Randall has been named the new head softball coach at Alfred State. Randall will lead the Pioneer program after spending the last eight years as the assistant head coach at St. Bonaventure University.

Director of Athletics Jason Doviak is excited to have Randall lead the program. "Todd is a proven leader and brings a wealth of experience as a collegiate head coach. His passion and dedication to the success of his softball student-athletes, both in and out of the classroom, was evident throughout the interview process. His core values aligned well with the mission of our department and we are delighted that he is joining our institution to lead our softball program."

"I'd like to thank Director of Athletics, Jason Doviak and the search committee for selecting me to be the next head softball coach at Alfred State," commented Randall. "I am excited about this opportunity and I look forward to meeting my new team, my colleagues and the program's support staff. An immediate program goal will be to create a family atmosphere as we strive to reach a healthy balance between academics and athletics."

Randall, a former baseball player at SBU, began his coaching career as an assistant coach with the Bonnies. He served in that position from 1990-93 before moving over to the softball diamond. From 1993-96, Randall served as the head coach and oversaw all aspects (recruiting, marketing, budget, travel, practice and game preparation, conditioning, academics, and student-welfare) of the program.

In 1996, Randall was named the head softball coach at the University of Hartford. During his 14 years at Hartford, he tallied 236 career wins, making him the winningest coach in Hartford softball history. Randall was the first coach in the softball program history to qualify for the America East Conference Tournament when his team did so in 2002. Also in his time at Hartford, Randall was responsible for 11 All-America East First-Team, 16 All-America East Second-Team, 12 America East All-Rookie Team and five America East All-Championship Team selections. Academically at Hartford, he coached seven America East All-Academic Team members and two CoSIDA Academic All-District selections. In 2006, Hartford's softball team had the third highest team GPA in Division I.

In 2012, Randall returned to St. Bonaventure and has served as the associate head coach for the past nine years. In that role he worked with the head coach in all aspects of the program.

Randall has extensive camp experience as well. He currently is a coordinator and instructor in the the Next Level Softball Camps/Clinics. He has also worked in the Willow Canyon Baseball Camp, the Randall Softball Academy, TPS Vortex/Top 96 Softball Clinics, Swanson's Professional Baseball/Softball Instruction, Hofstra Softball Camp, Cave Creek Softball/Baseball Camps, Randalle's Diamonds in the Rough Softbball Camp, Virga's New Canaan Baseball Camp, Sudbrook's Top Gun Baseball Camp, and the Old Dominion Best of the East Baseball Camp.

A 1988 graduate of St. Bonaventure, Randall has a degree in Journalism and Mass Communication.
