Softball Swept by Penn. State Behrend

The Alfred State softball team (9-19, 5-9 AMCC) was swept by Penn. State Behrend (21-10, 12-2) Tuesday evening in Erie, Pa.

Game one: ASC 3, PSB 11 (5 Innings)

The Pioneers recorded 3 runs, 9 hits, 3 RBIs and 3 errors.

The Lions recorded 11 runs, 14 hits, 10 RBIs and 0 errors.

Pioneer Leaders:

Kaylee Griffith (Niagara Falls) went 2-for-2 with 1 run.

Felecia Capito (Cuba, NY/Portville) went 2-for-3 with 2 RBIs.

How it Happened:

Behrend scored seven runs in the bottom of the first and four more in the second.

In the top of the third Felecia Capito hit a two-run single to plate Griffith and Nicole Youngberg (Falconer).

In the top of the fourth Kailey Wonica (Staten Island, NY/Moore Catholic) doubled to right field to plate Sarah Boyce (Cortland).

Pioneer Pitching:

Fisher (L, 6-9) pitched 4 innings and allowed 14 hits, 11 runs, walked 0 and struck out 2.

Game two: ASC 0, PSB 8 (5 innings)

The Pioneers recorded 0 runs, 2 hits, 0 RBIs and 1 error.

The Lions recorded 8 runs, 8 hits, 7 RBIs and 1 error.

Pioneer Leaders:

Felecia Capito and Griffith each recorded 1 hit.

How it Happened:

The Lions scored two runs in the first and six in the second.

Pioneer Pitching:

Abby Beidel (Newville, PA/Big Spring) (L, 3-10) pitched 4 innings and allowed 8 hits, 8 runs, walked 2 and struck out 2.

The Pioneers are home Thursday, April 28 to host Houghton in a non-conference doubleheader starting at 3 p.m.
