Men's Swimming Wins Two at Cobleskill Quad
The Alfred State men's swimming team defeated two of their three opponents at the Cobleskill Quad on Saturday. The Pioneers defeated Wells 147-85 and Gallaudet 147-98 but fell 163-95 to Cobleskill.
Bryce Cutler (Newton, NJ) led the way with two 1st place finishes and a 2nd. He won the 500 free (5:18.64) and the 400 IM (4:50.34) and was 2nd in the 100 back (1:00.69).
John Paul Holubek (Wayland Cohocton) won the 1000 free (11:29.20) and Tim Berry (Midlakes) won the 1 m diving competition (148.70). Holubek was also 2nd in the 200 breast (2:38.70) and 3rd in the 100 breast (1:11.42).
Kyle Sporysz (Cuba Rushford) won the was 3rd in the 200 free (2:10.20) and 4th in the 50 free (25.46). Tim Seitzinger (Bel Air, MD) was 2nd in the 200 fly (2:31.65) and 3rd i nthe 100 fly (1:05.02), Alex Ciolek (Orchard Park) was 3rd in the 200 back (2:23.19), 4th in the 100 back (1:04.32) and 6th in the 50 free (25.67), and Rob Kelso was 5th in the 100 breast (1:17.65) and 6th in the 100 free (1:00.88).
The men's 200 medley relay team was 2nd (1:55.77) and the 400 free relay team was 3rd (3:58.36).
On the women's side Josey Brewer was 3rd in the 50 free (29.64), 4th in the 100 breast (1:23.12), and 7th in the 100 free (1:09.19) while Eryn Cochran (Alfred) was 2nd in the 400 IM (5:42.100, 4th in the 200 free (2:19.89), and 5th in the 500 free (6:17.92).
The women's team fell 219-24 to Cobleskill, Wells 155-27, and Gallaudet 176-44.
The Pioneers dive back into the pool next Saturday when they compete in the Jamestown CC Invitational.
