Gold Edges Blue

The Alfred State swimming team competed in their annual Blue & Gold/Alumni Meet on Saturday as the college celebrated Homecoming 2017.

Coach Weston on the meet: "The team had a nice first meet last night. It was awesome to see so many bodies in the pool. The Alumni that showed up and competed were really impressed with the amount of people on the roster. We are looking forward to a good week of practice and gearing up for our first dual meet of the season against Penn State Behrend, the reigning AMCC champs."

Highlights of the night:

• Gold Team of Tim Olin, Kaileigh Lehman, Dave Whiting, and Emily Pierce set the tone winning the 200 Mixed Medley Relay led by Whiting's 25.03 Butterfly Split
• Kathryn Lewis set a school record in the 1000 Free (12:15.78) and placed 1^st in the 100 Free (58.51)
• Bryce Cutler took the top spot for the Blue Team in the 100 Fly (59.16)
• Ethan Dale was the lone 2-event winner in the 200 IM (2:11.72) and 100 Breast (1:07.71)
• Blue Team of Nate Ciciera, Lizzy Drake, Lizzie Furmanski, and Tyler La Flamm (1:45.01) finished the meet with a close victory in the 200 Mixed Freestyle Relay over the Gold Team of Ethan Dale, Nathan Miller, Lauren Earley, and Kathryn Lewis (1:45.56)
