Pioneers Predicted 8th in AMCC Pre-Season Coaches Poll

First year head coach Taylor Button and the Alfred State women's basketball team has been predicted to finish 8th in the AMCC Pre-Season Coaches poll.

La Roche is predicted to finish on top of the conference followed by Penn State Behrend, Pitt-Greensburg, and Penn State Altoona. Hilbert and Medaille are tied for 5th, Mount Aloysius is 7th, Alfred State 8th, and Pitt-Bradford 9th. Alexis Cannistraci (Penn State Altoona) and Nadege Durand (Pitt-Greensburg) have been selected as Preseason Co-Players of the Year.

Alfred State was 7-18 overall in 2019-20 and 5-15 in AMCC play. The 2021-22 season will be only the second year that the Pioneers have competed in the AMCC. Button will rely on the experience of a handful of returners including Emily Kelly (Andover) and My'ana Davis (Rochester/Greece Athena). Kelly started all 25 games during the 19-20 season and averaged 8.8 points per game and 6.4 rebounds while Davis averaged 4.8 points per game and recorded 58 rebounds and 43 assists.

The Pioneers open up the season with a road contest at SUNY Delhi (11/10). They open up the home portion of their season with a rematch against Delhi on November 20th.
