Pioneers Roll in Home Opener

The Alfred State women's basketball team rolled to a 74-45 victory over SUNY Delhi in their 2021-22 home opener. The game was part of Day one of the Alfred Classic.

The Pioneers scored the ten points of the game and never looked back. They led 16-12 after one quarter, 40-21 at the half, and 62-33 after three. Both team scored in 12 in the 4th quarter.

Five Pioneers finished in double-figures on the day. Skylar Shaulis (Ovid/South Seneca) led the way with 17 points and seven boards while Ivette Lewandowski (Springville-Griffith) added 14. Emily Kelley (Andover) had 12 points and eight boards, My'ana Davis (Greece Athena) had 11 points and six rebounds, and Savannah Ambuski (Canisteo Greenwood) came off the bench and had 11.

Alfred State was 31 for 80 from the field and 8 for 18 from three. The Pioneers had a 60 to 49 advantage on the boards.

Jennifer Roche had a double-double for Delhi finishing with 13 points and 10 boards. Angelica Lazo added 12.

Alfred State heads across the street tomorrow for a Noon tip-off vs. Hiram at Alfred University. AU defeated Hiram 70-62 in the other day one game of the Alfred Classic.
