Kelley Nets 19 vs. Hiram

Hiram put together a pair of big runs as they were able to down Alfred State 67-44 on Day 2 of the Alfred Classic. The Pioneers are now 2-2 in the early season.

Neither team got much offense going early but the Pioneers had a 6-5 lead with 4:12 left in the opening quarter before the Terriers went on a 9-0 run to close the first ten minutes. Hiram added to their lead in the 2nd and went into break with a 26-15 lead. The Pioneers got going in the 3rd and cut the lead to four and trailed 38-34 with 2:47 left. Hiram built back their lead to ten, 46-36, heading into the final frame. In the 4th, Hiram was 6 for 19 from the field and 8 for 8 from the foul line to seal the victory.

Emily Kelley (Andover) continued her solid start to the 2021-22 season with a team high 19 points to go with nine rebounds. My'ana Davis (Greece Athena) finished with eight points and four assists while Skylar Shaulis (Ovid/South Seneca) added seven points and ten boards.

Alfred State shot 18 for 54 from the field, 2 for 10 from three, and 6 for 12 from the foul line.

Haley Thompson led the Terriers (3-4) with 20 points and 16 rebounds while Selena Vargas finished with 12 points and 18 boards. Hiram held a 54 to 31 advantage on the boards. They were 25 for 71 from the field, 3 for 19 from three, and 14 for 16 from the charity stripe. 

The Pioneers travel to Penn Yan on Tuesday for a 6 p.m. battle versus Keuka.
