Three Pioneers Score in Double Digits In Nazareth Loss

Three members of the Alfred State women's basketball team scored in double digits in the Pioneers 86-62 loss to the Nazareth Golden Flyers inside Kidera Gymnasium on Thursday evening.

Alfred State moves to 7-4 after shooting 40.6% in field goals, picking up 45 rebounds and recording 11 assists.

Skylar Shaulis (Ovid/South Seneca) led the team with 16 points and collected six rebounds, Emily Kelley (Andover) chipped in 14 points, nine rebounds, three assists and three steals, My'ana Davis (Greece Athena) added 12 points with six rebounds and three assists and Janna Pena (Brooklyn/ACLA) recorded a team-high of 12 rebounds.

The Pioneers only trailed by one point after the first quarter and headed into halftime down 38-31.

Both teams scored their most points in the third quarter with Nazareth putting up 29 and Alfred recording 23.

The Golden Flyers held the Pioneers to just eight points in the fourth quarter and took their largest lead of 26 points with 29 seconds left in the game.

Alfred State heads to SUNY Oswego on Monday, Jan. 3 to play the Lakers at 2 p.m.
