Strong Second Half Push Pioneers Past Mount Aloysius

A strong second half assisted the Alfred State women's basketball team to a 58-46 come-from-behind win over the Mount Aloysius Mounties Saturday evening inside Orvis Gymnasium.

The Pioneers improve to 9-7 overall and 6-3 in the AMCC while the Mounties move to 2-15 overall and 2-7 in the conference.

Alfred State shot 32.7% in field goals, 62.5% in three-pointers, 58.6% in free throws and out-rebounded Mount Aloysius 45-40.

Calesta Reigelman (Johnson City) led the team with 15 points and went four-for-four in three-pointers.

 Emily Kelley (Andover) recorded her 11th double-double with 12 point and 12 rebounds and had two blocks.

My'ana Davis (Greece Athena) chipping in 12 point and had six rebounds, four assists and three steals.

Maisy Booth (Canisteo Greenwood) added 11 points, nine rebounds and six steals.

Janna Pena (Brooklyn/ACLA) picked up 10 rebounds and had five points.

The game was tied 12 times and the lead changes 10 times. Mount Aloysius led 11-8 after the first quarter. Both teams recorded 13 points in the second quarter and the Mounties headed into halftime with a 24-21 edge.

The Pioneers put up 20 points in the third quarter including a nine-point run and held the Mounties to six points for an 11-point advantage.

The fourth quarter was a back-and-forth affair with Alfred State out-scoring Mount Aloysius 17-16 for the comeback win.

The women are on the road Monday, Jan. 31 to play Medaille at 5:30 p.m.
